A Little Drama Behind the Scenes

A Little Drama Behind the Scenes

The “Minuet” is a dance from the 1770s and also happens to be the title of Deanne's watercolor here. This painting was accepted into national competition in 2013 with the American Watercolor Society and toured around the country that year. The dance begins: The painting arrives with a broken frame which had to be replaced before it traveled. Then, in the catalog there was a mix up with the painting and artist, and wasn’t caught until after it was published!  It was too late to remedy the situation. Someone else’s work was in Deanne Lemley's place and visa/versa.  Straitening this out took letters and phone calls to identify whose was whose. So, the painting really did become a dance of sorts, a Minuet. It traveled the country side in 2013 with the American Watercolor Society and is a hidden treasure that deserves circulation for it’s beauty, design and masterful execution by artist Deanne Lemley.  Just a little behind the scene drama we've uncovered for our Art Legacy Shop fans.
